BC F1RST CTP is a three-week long, in-person, residential program. The 2025 BC F1RST College Transition Program will be held from July 27, 2025 through August 17, 2025. Program participants will attend Orientation Session 4, June 29 - July 1, 2025 or Session 5, July 13-15, 2025.ÌýThe priority deadline for all applicants is April 1, 2025. The regular deadline is May 1, 2025. Program decisions will be confirmed no later than May 12, 2025. The BC F1RST College Transition Program (CTP) is a free summer program for first-year, first-generation, and low-income Boston College students.Ìý BC F1RST CTP is designed to ease the transition challenges many incoming college students experience.Ìý The program supports first-year students and assists them with the creation and development of relationships with faculty, staff, administrators, and other students that will aid first-year students to be successful at Boston College. Students will develop meaningful, purposeful, and intentional relationships that will enable them to more readily and easily access and utilize university resources, while establishing connections that will sustain them throughout their collegiate career.

Our commitment to you and your family extends well beyond the BC F1RST College Transition Program.Ìý You will be supported by the Mentoring and Academic Achievement staff for the entirety of your collegiate experience at Boston College.Ìý The Mentoring and Academic Achievement staff will support you in the following ways:
- Our office will provide a dedicated advisor who will support your growth and development
- You will be eligible to participate in the BC F1RST Leadership Symposium
- You will have opportunities to attend Financial Aid counseling and seminars on Financial Literacy
- You will receive internship and career advice and support
Your acceptance to the BC F1RST College Transition Program is the beginning of our four-year commitment to you and your family.Ìý The Mentoring and Academic Achievement staff will be among your greatest supporters at the university. We will be present at the stunning start of your Boston College career and also present at your exciting exit as an alumnus of Boston College!

Our BC F1RST College Transition Program serves first-generation college students. If you do not identify as a first-generation student, then, unfortunately, you are not eligible to participate in this program.
A first-generation college student is defined as a student whose parent(s)/legal guardian(s) have not completed a bachelor's degree. This means that you are the first in your family to attend a four-year college/university to attain a bachelor's degree.Ìý

A first-generation college student is defined as a student whose parent(s)/legal guardian(s) have not completed a bachelor's degree. This means that you are the first in your family to attend a four-year college/university to attain a bachelor's degree.
You were invited to this program based on the information you provided in your application to Boston College. This demonstrated that you meet our eligibility criteria, and we wanted to invite you to participate in this opportunity.
Unfortunately, if you are not first-generation, we received your information in error and you cannot participate in the program. Please email the program at bcfirstctp@bc.edu to let us know you were invited by mistake. This will allow us to correct our information so that we do not contact you further.
Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis. The last day to submit an application is May 01, 2025.
You will be asked to provide some demographic information and write a short essay answering two questions:
- Why do you want to participate in BC F1RST CTP?
- What do you anticipate doing with your college education?
Participation in the program will be contingent upon your acceptance to Boston College.
Decisions will be emailed no later than May 12, 2025.
The program is free! All costs associated with BC F1RST CTP will be covered by Boston College.
Yes, you are responsible for transportation to and from the campus.
The program will provide you with the on-campus resources and Boston College-related knowledge necessary to successfully transition into your first semester. It will also give you the opportunity to create a support system on campus by connecting you with other BC F1RST CTP students, as well as with staff and faculty.
