What sets us apart:
Pep Band members travel to exciting events and get airtime on regional and national sports broadcasts. In recent years, the band has traveled to the Men's Hockey Frozen Four/National Championship, Women's Hockey Frozen Four/National Championship, Hockey East Tournament, Beanpot Tournament, Women's Basketball ACC Tournament, and Men's Basketball ACC Tournament. From October to April, the Pep Band provides the spirit that is Boston College sports.
- Each Boston College instrumentalist who participates in the Marching Band and Pep Band is eligible for additional scholarship assistance at the completion of the Spring tournament season.聽 聽
- We welcome students on piccolo, alto sax, tenor sax, trumpet, mellophone, trombone, baritone, sousaphone, drum set, auxiliary percussion, guitar, electric bass, and keyboards!聽
Schedule
Rehearsals
Rehearsals are Mondays from 5:15-6:30 p.m. and Wednesdays from 4:15-6:30 p.m.聽
Performances
UWE performs six concerts a year, including the annual Bands of the Beanpot with Boston University, Harvard University, and Northeastern University, plus a BC Bands Christmas concert, and a concert during the Annual Boston College Arts Festival. UWE members will also have the opportunity to participate in chamber ensembles throughout the year.
No! Anyone is welcome to join! If you are not in the Marching Band, we will rehearse with you separately to ensure you are adequately prepared.
The Pep Band performs at Men鈥檚 and Women鈥檚 hockey games and Men鈥檚 and Women鈥檚 basketball games.聽
No, members typically play at 2-3 games per week, and they can indicate their availability for games to schedule around classes and other commitments.聽
Yes, the Pep Band typically travels with the hockey and basketball teams for tournament and championship games!
Yes. The Bands office will provide sousaphones, baritones, mellophones, and piccolos. Some saxophones, trombones, and trumpets are also available on a limited basis. The Band provides all percussion equipment and accessories.
No. However, if you are new to the ensemble and are unfamiliar with our song selection, we will need to meet with you separately to get you up to speed.
Yes! If you are a college student at a school that does not have a comparable athletic band program, you can participate in our Pep Band through the Partner School Program. For more information email聽bands@bc.edu.
