Want to make a听difference听on campus? Learn about how you can get involved with the Undergraduate Government of Boston College.
For First-Year Students:
New to BC? UGBC is a great way to get involved on campus, meet lots of new people, and affect meaningful change at BC.
There are three main ways to get involved as a first-year student:
- First-year Senate Seats: Run in a class-wide election to be elected to one of the five available first-year representative seats in the Senate, UGBC's Legislative Branch. In the Senate, you will have the opportunity to work on creating and implementing major policy initiatives while representing your class. The elections themselves take place each September. Prior to the elections, there will be a mandatory information session for those intending to run. Email the Elections Committee at elect@bc.edu or check out the Elections Committee on MyBC for more information!
- Apply Directly to UGBC Divisions: Finance, Communications, Student Initiatives, AHANA+ Leadership Council (ALC), GLBTQ+ Leadership Council (GLC) or Council for Students with Disabilities (CSD).
- All UGBC Meetings are open to the public!
Other opportunties to get involved!
If you are returning to BC and want to get involved in UGBC, or are a first-year who would like a lower-commitment position, there are still options available:
- Special Elections for Senate: Run for open seats in the Senate, UGBC's Legislative Branch. In the Senate, you will have the opportunity to work on creating and implementing major policy initiatives while representing your class. Prior to the elections, there will be a mandatory info session for those intending to run. Email the Elections Committee at elect@bc.edu or check out the Elections Committee on MyBC for more information!
- Reach out with ideas: If you have an idea that you think UGBC would be able to help with, contact your Senate representative or an executive member!
- Come to Events: Support your peers and come to UGBC events to see what UGBC does on campus! Don't be afraid to ask questions!
